Co-Creation

Healing, flowing, spiritually connecting and celebrating----these are all elements of the same path, the same energy that is "co-creating". I didn't coin the term. A friend passed it down and gifted it to me, but having a name----a word for the kind of energy I've thrived off of, survived on, craved, and deeply cherished my whole life----is beyond comforting. It's power.

To name something so accurately and eloquently is to make it real-----to provide the experience and essence with grounding and authority. No longer can the energy be swept away as insignificant or divided up in psychiatry terms out of judgment, fear, dehumanization, mutilation, social control, and ultimately, spiritual annihilation. Co-creation is alive and well, full-bodied, fully realized, and fully supported as the loving term holds space for the expanisve energy to work its magic.

So, what is co-creation? And how do you do it? Every kid knows how. Every adult who held on and refused to forget knows how too.

Co-creation energy comes with feeling. It comes with that excitement, flood of love, and profound connection as a song, movie, book, performance, or gust of wind truly moves you. Have you ever felt in love with emotion? As if the emotion itself, so cutting and real, so soft and sweet, so deep and heart-breaking, so powerful and uplifting, could inspire you to do something extraordinary? Pick up a pen, perhaps, and start writing or drive down a road you never ventured before even though you pass by it every day. The energy is connection----an opening of connection with yourself as you feel and touch more within your soul, and connection with the world as you move around, express, explore, interact, and relate.

In a way, co-creation is spontaneity, but spontaneity has an air of chaos to it----energy that perhaps is a little sporadic and untrustworthy. Co-creation takes spontaneity and gives it endurance----balanced, long-lasting life along a path that's reliably connected both inward and outward.

Some have called it "play", and yes, in a very real sense, co-creation is play. It brings about joy as you allow yourself to flow in open energy, as opposed to energy that is controlled, interrupted by obligations/distractions, timed by a clock, or hindered by fear and practical reasoning. Much like in play, the energy in co-creation is free and seems to come from all around, growing momentum as more and more inspiration sprinkles in, and joy from the abundance of ideas and freedom flows, drawing in awe. Why do kids run around? Are they trying to lose weight or run a calculated distance? No. They're having fun. They're enjoying their bodies as they express their abilities and connect with the uplifting feelings within. They're enjoying their minds as they take on roles of superheroes, animals, spirits, and fantastical things. They're enjoying the power of healing and the miracle of life, even if they're not consciously focused on that, and in a way, especially since they're not consciously focused on that. Healing and spiritual connection is natural in play because it's not forced, rushed, or hammered in----it's allowed and welcomed.

Now, take that play essence and give it a vessel with positive purpose and drive. Ask yourself questions. What do you want to change in the world? What do you want to change in yourself? What's hindering you or getting in the way? Motivation and purpose are key in co-creation, because without those guiding forces, you could find yourself getting lost, blindly connecting to hurtful things, dropping boundaries and forgiving horrible people, or floating off into disconnection altogether. There is always heavenly energy available up in the clouds, in the stars, in your creative nests, nature nooks, and ethereal spaces, but can you ground that energy and make it real? Can you do the same thing that the term "co-creation" does for the energy, and name your own discoveries, finish the projects to completion, and back them with your healed confidence and authority? Can you do what my friend did for me by gifting the term "co-creation", and gift your creative abilities to the world?

That's how this works. Art inspires art. People inspire people, and true co-creation comes from trusting yourself, trusting the process, and trusting the unique discoveries and creations. A herd of sheep, so I've heard, glob together and rely on a shepherd, but a herd of co-creators? They operate both independently and interdependently, flowing in harmony, working together, and enjoying every moment of life as co-creation expands from a contained energy, safe within private spaces, to a shared energy, free to ripple and spread out.

With co-creation, every day becomes a miracle. Every day becomes a giant open vessel, ripe with spiritual energy, abundant with love, and exciting with possibilities. Why? Because you are so obviously not alone. Each creative idea and each healing discovery is evidence. You don't have to do anything with it----the proof is in the feeling it gives you. And with the co-creator to co-creator highly inspired, electric energy----the kind that runs through the air, in person, in technology, on the page, and through the microphone----the evidence on this planet is clear too. We are not alone. And all of our projects? They're bigger than us.
